Jure Gavran was born in 1979 in Chicago Illinois. His first name is pronounced (U re) and his last name means raven in Croatian. His mother is from Guatemala and his dad is from Croatia, so he's basically a mutt. At the age of two years old he moved to Guatemala with his parents and lived there for fours years. Once there, he was exposed to a lot of Tokusatsu (live-action Japanese television dramas) and Mazinger. When he returned to the states, his family settled in Los Angeles where they soaked in the sun, smog, and traffic. Jure graduated from Whittier College and received his liberal arts degree with an emphasis in studio art in 2002. He later went on to accept his MFA degree in graphic design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He currently resides in Oakland, California and works as a graphic designer in the Bay Area.

Jure considers himself a geek who's trapped in an out-of-shape jock's body. He enjoys football and mix martial arts, and also loves comics, cartoons, typography, and obviously toys.
